Basic Fair Hearing Advocacy

This basic training covers substantive fair hearing rights and procedures including:  best practices when and how to request a fair hearing; appellant rights; fair hearing procedures; preparing for a fair hearing; and what to do after the hearing.  This training is ideal for those new to or interested in assisting clients in Public Benefits matters.

    Denise Acron (Speaker)

    Denise Acron (she, her) - Deputy Director, Manhattan Legal Services Denise Acron is the Deputy Director of Manhattan Legal Services. She was formerly Unit Director of the Government Benefits Unit at Manhattan Legal Services. In this role, she supervised a team that litigates on behalf of low-income clients in federal, state, and city courts concerning government benefits issues. Manhattan Legal Services, which is part of Legal Services NYC, the largest civil legal services provider in the country, fights poverty and seeks racial, social, and economic justice for low-income New Yorkers. Raised in San Diego, California, Denise graduated from Columbia University with honors and Wake Forest University School of Law.
