Reentry Initiative: Helping Low-Income New Yorkers Overcome Barriers to Employment

This session will train pro bono volunteers on Certificates of Relief from Disabilities and Certificates of Good Conduct. The program will provide an overview of the relevant law—Article 23-A of the NY State Correction Law and the NYC Fair Chance Act. Participants will also learn about the benefits of obtaining a Certificate of Relief or Good Conduct, eligibility requirements, and the application components and process in order to prepare them for representing clients in obtaining these valuable, but underutilized Certificates.
