Supplemental Needs Trusts

This training will detail the different types of Supplemental Needs Trusts (“SNTs”). You’ll learn how to use SNTs to protect clients’ access to government benefits and will learn how SNTs affect SSI and Medicaid benefits. The training will also cover how to set up self-settled trusts.

    David Goldfarb (Speaker)

    David Goldfarb is the managing partner of the law firm of Goldfarb Abrandt Salzman & Kutzin LLP, with offices in New York City and White Plains. He concentrates his practice in elder law, trusts and estates and health care planning. He is the co-author of the New York Elder Law (Lexis/Matthew Bender, 1999-2016). He was formerly an attorney and supervisor for the Civil Division of the Legal Aid Society in New York City. He was named Best Lawyers' 2014 New York City Elder Law “Lawyer of the Year.” He is chair of the Elder Law & Special Needs Section of the New York State Bar Association and was formerly Chair of the Legal Problems of the Aging Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He is a fellow of ACTEC. He received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin and his J.D. from New York University School of Law.

    David Kronenberg (Speaker)

    David I. Kronenberg is a partner in the law firm of Goldfarb Abrandt Salzman & Kutzin LLP. David concentrates his practice in plans for long term care, including planning and advocating for home care, asset protection, nursing home care, estate plans, supplemental needs trusts, real estate, cooperatives, and the rights of the elderly and disabled. David currently serves as Chair of the of the New York City Bar Association's Committee on Legal Problems of the Aging. He also serves as a member of the Publication Committee of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) and as a Deglegate for NYSBA's Elder Law and Special Needs Section for the 11th Judicial District. Additionally, David serves as a member of the Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission for the 11th Judicial District. David is the former co-Editor in Chief of Elder and Special Needs Law Journal, published quarterly by the Elder Law and Special Needs Section of NYSBA. David has published numerous articles on various topics, including home care advocacy, Managed Long Term Care and Supplemental Needs Trusts. He is also a frequent lecturer on elder law issues. He received his J.D. from New York Law School in 2001. He currently lives in Forest Hills, NY with his wife Jacqueline and his two daughters, Abigail and Rachel.
