Working Effectively with People with Mental Health Concerns, Including Trauma and Secondary Trauma
This session is only for staff at Bronx Legal Services.
This program will provide attendees with information on common mental illnesses, including signs and symptoms, and provide tips on how to communicate more effectively with people with mental illness. Attendees will develop a better understanding of how people with mental illness perceive legal advocates, the court, and court processes, and things that happen in our offices. We will also discuss how trauma and secondary trauma affects mental illness. Attendees will learn how to improve communications with clients and others with mental health concerns, and will come away from this program feeling more confident in their ability to work with clients who have mental health concerns.
