Consumer Bankruptcy Advocacy for NYC BAP
This training is required for volunteers with the NYC Bankruptcy Assistance Project. Prior bankruptcy experience is not necessary. The class will train attendees to interview clients, spot issues, prepare Chapter 7 petitions and advise debtors how to represent themselves at the Meeting of Creditors. The training includes a hands-on preparation of a bankruptcy petition. In exchange for this free training, attorneys must take at least 3 cases and complete them—approximately 30 hours of work. Please bring a laptop computer, if possible.
